Most cabinet brands make you choose: framed or frameless. Blue Valley Cabinets offers both—in a single brand, with all-wood construction, KCMA certification, CARB2 compliance for low formaldehyde emissions, NKBA membership, and a 5-year limited warranty. Whether you want the timeless look of a traditional framed Shaker kitchen or the sleek, full-access design of a European-style frameless cabinet, Blue Valley delivers premium quality without the premium price tag.

At Cabinet Solutions LIVE, we carry 14 Blue Valley styles across both framed and frameless collections—available at auction pricing through our live in-person auctions and Facebook Live online auctions across the Carolinas. No contractor license required. With over 17 years in business and 30+ auction locations, we’ve been helping homeowners, contractors, builders, and investors access brand-new, high-quality building materials at a fraction of retail.

Pair Blue Valley cabinets with our design consultation and 3D layout support, custom order options, and delivery service across NC and SC, and you get a complete kitchen solution tailored to your space and budget.

One Brand, Two Construction Styles: Why That Matters

The choice between framed and frameless cabinets is one of the most important decisions in a kitchen project. It affects the look, the functionality, and how much usable storage you get. Most brands specialize in one or the other—forcing you to switch manufacturers if your design calls for both. Blue Valley gives you both options under a single brand with consistent quality, which means you can mix framed and frameless in the same kitchen if your design calls for it.

Framed Cabinets: Traditional Structure, Timeless Style

Framed cabinets feature a solid wood face frame attached to the front of the cabinet box. The doors mount to this frame, creating the classic Shaker look that’s been a staple of American kitchen design for decades. The face frame adds structural rigidity and makes door alignment straightforward during installation. Framed cabinets are the natural choice for traditional, transitional, farmhouse, and coastal kitchen styles.

Frameless Cabinets: Modern, Full-Access Design

Frameless (also called European-style or full-access) cabinets eliminate the face frame entirely. The doors mount directly to the cabinet box, creating a clean, seamless look with wider door openings and more usable interior space. Without the face frame narrowing the opening, you get full access to the cabinet interior—making it easier to fit large pots, pans, and appliances. Frameless cabinets are the go-to for modern, contemporary, and minimalist kitchen designs.

Framed Collection: 8 Styles Built for Everyday Life

Every Blue Valley framed cabinet shares the same premium construction:

  • Construction: ½” cabinet grade plywood box with metal L-bracket reinforcements for added structural rigidity.

  • Door & Drawer: 5-piece recessed Shaker door, ¾” full overlay birch. Dovetail solid wood drawer box.

  • Hardware: 6-way adjustable soft close hinges. Undermount full extension soft close drawer glides.

  • Shelves: ¾” cabinet grade plywood adjustable shelves.

  • Interior: Natural clear coat finish with ½” back panel stretchers.

  • Warranty: 5-year limited warranty, KCMA certified, CARB2 compliant.

What Makes Blue Valley Framed Construction Stand Out

Blue Valley’s metal L-bracket reinforcements are a construction detail you won’t find in most brands at this price point. The L-brackets add structural rigidity at the joints where the cabinet box meets the face frame—the area most prone to loosening over years of daily use. Combined with dovetail solid wood drawer boxes and ¾” plywood shelves, this is built-to-last construction.

Frameless Collection: 6 Styles for Modern Living

Blue Valley’s frameless line uses a different construction approach optimized for the European full-access design:

  • Construction: ¾” plywood side panels, bottom panel, and enforced rails throughout (back, top-back, top-front, middle). ¾” front enforced toe kick. Wooden dowel joinery.

  • Door: ¾” thick full overlay particleboard (PB) door panel for a seamless, frameless look.

  • Drawer: Double wall soft closing metal drawer with ⅝” particleboard (PB) back and bottom panels. ¾” particleboard (PB) drawer panel front.

  • Hardware: Adjustable soft-close metal hinges.

  • Shelves: ¾” plywood adjustable shelves.

  • Back Panel: ¼” MDF back panel.

Why Frameless Uses Different Construction

Frameless cabinets don’t have a face frame to add structural support, so the cabinet box itself needs to be stronger. That’s why Blue Valley’s frameless line uses thicker ¾” plywood side panels (vs. ½” in the framed line) and multiple enforced rails running across the back, top, and middle of the box. The double wall metal drawer system is designed for the wider openings that frameless construction creates—providing smooth, full-extension operation under heavy loads.

Framed vs. Frameless: Blue Valley Construction Compared

Blue Valley's Framed cabinets (8 styles) use ½" plywood boxes with metal L brackets, dovetail solid wood drawers, and 6 way adjustable soft close hinges with undermount full extension glides. They suit traditional, farmhouse, and coastal looks and carry KCMA, CARB2, and NKBA certifications with a 5 year limited warranty.

The Frameless line (6 styles) uses ¾" plywood construction, double wall metal drawers with particleboard panels, and an integrated metal drawer system. It's ideal for modern, minimalist, and European aesthetics with CARB2 and NKBA certifications. Warranty details are available on request. Both lines feature ¾" plywood adjustable shelves and soft close hinges.

Can I Mix Framed and Frameless in the Same Kitchen?

Yes. Some homeowners use framed cabinets for the perimeter walls (where the traditional Shaker look anchors the design) and frameless cabinets for the island (where the modern, seamless look creates a focal point). Since both lines come from Blue Valley, the construction quality is consistent even when the styles differ. Our design consultation team can help you plan a mixed layout that works.

Certifications: KCMA, CARB2 & NKBA

KCMA Certified (Assembled Cabinets)

Cabinets assembled by Blue Valley Cabinets are KCMA (Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association) certified—the industry’s most recognized quality standard. KCMA-certified cabinets are independently tested through a rigorous battery of tests that simulate years of household use, including structural loading, drawer cycling, finish resistance, and hinge durability. Blue Valley is listed as a certified manufacturer on the official KCMA directory at kcma.org.

CARB2 Compliant

Blue Valley cabinets meet the California Air Resources Board Phase 2 standards for low formaldehyde emissions. CARB2 compliance means the composite wood materials used in cabinet construction have been independently tested to meet the most stringent formaldehyde emission standards in the country—an important health and safety standard for any home.

NKBA Member

Blue Valley is a member of the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), the leading trade organization for kitchen and bath professionals. NKBA membership reflects a commitment to industry standards, professional development, and design excellence.

Which Blue Valley Style Is Right for Your Kitchen?

If You Want a Classic or Transitional Kitchen

Start with the framed collection. Dove White, White Shaker, and Honey Wheat are the most versatile options for traditional layouts, farmhouse kitchens, and coastal designs. Grey Shaker and Modern Slate bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary.

If You Want a Modern or Contemporary Kitchen

The frameless collection is designed for you. Matte Black and Matte Grey deliver high-impact modern aesthetics. Glossy White creates a sleek European look. Oak and Walnut bring natural warmth to modern designs without the traditional Shaker profile.

If You Want a Bold Statement

Midnight Blue (framed) and Onyx Black (framed) make striking choices for full kitchens or accent islands. In the frameless line, Matte Black is one of the most requested finishes in contemporary kitchen design right now.

If You Want the Best of Both Worlds

Mix framed perimeter cabinets with a frameless island. Dove White perimeter + Matte Black island. White Shaker perimeter + Walnut island. Grey Shaker perimeter + Oak island. The combinations work because both lines share Blue Valley’s consistent build quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What’s the difference between Blue Valley’s framed and frameless cabinets?

A: Framed cabinets have a solid wood face frame on the front of the cabinet box, giving them the classic Shaker look. They use ½” plywood boxes with metal L-bracket reinforcements, ¾” full overlay birch doors, dovetail solid wood drawers, and 6-way adjustable soft close hinges. Frameless cabinets eliminate the face frame for a sleeker, modern look with wider openings and more interior space. They use thicker ¾” plywood side panels, ¾” particleboard (PB) full overlay door panels, double wall soft closing metal drawers with PB panels, wooden dowel joinery, and multiple enforced rails for structural strength.

Q: What certifications do Blue Valley Cabinets hold?

A: Blue Valley holds three certifications: KCMA (Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association) certification for cabinets assembled by Blue Valley, CARB2 compliance for low formaldehyde emissions across the line, and NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association) membership. Blue Valley is listed on the official KCMA directory at kcma.org.

Q: Can I mix framed and frameless cabinets in the same kitchen?

A: Yes. Some homeowners use framed cabinets for the perimeter walls and frameless cabinets for the island to combine traditional and modern aesthetics. Since both lines come from Blue Valley, the overall quality is consistent. Our design consultation team can help you plan a mixed layout.

Q: Can I see Blue Valley cabinets before buying?

A: Yes. At our live in-person auctions across the Carolinas, you can inspect products firsthand before bidding. Q: What’s the difference between Blue Valley’s Dove White, Micro White Shaker, and White Shaker?

A: All three are white-framed Shaker cabinets with identical construction specs. The difference is the shade and profile: Dove White is a soft off-white, White Shaker is a bright white, and Micro White Shaker is a subtle off-white with a slimmer Shaker rail profile for a more contemporary take on the classic look. The right choice depends on your countertop color, backsplash, and how warm or cool you want the overall kitchen to feel.

Q: What if I need a specific configuration that’s not available at auction?

A: We offer custom Blue Valley orders for specific styles, sizes, and configurations beyond our current auction inventory.
